Cashless parking trial

We are trialing plans for cashless parking across the borough.

The trial involves three district centres:

  • Purley (Whytecliffe Road South and High Street Purley)
  • New Addington (Central Parade slip road and Central Parade car park)
  • Addiscombe (Lower Addiscombe Road)

Free parking

We provide limited stay free parking within our town centres and high streets. Limited short-stay parking encourages regular turnover, by making spaces close to shops available for short durations suitable for shopping.

Cashless trial

From Tuesday 2 January 2024 for a trial period of three weeks, we will be changing how the free 60 minute parking sessions operate.

We will be switching off the ‘pay and display’ machines, and no tickets will be dispensed.  Instead, motorists will need to either:

  • use the RingGo cashless parking app on their smartphones
  • call RingGo on 0203 046 0010 to obtain a free session
  • or alternatively visit a local PayPoint location.

We do not apply surcharges to use RingGo, but do check your phone settings. There is a no return period of two hours after leaving a location.

Paypoint locations

The PayPoint locations in the three district centres are:

Purley

Londis store at the Shell Foxley Garage on the corner of Godstone Road and Foxley Hill Road

New Addington

  • Morrisons Daily, 4 Central Parade, New Addington
  •  am2pm off-licence Vape Town. 15 Central Parade, New Addington
  •  New Addington Food and Wine, 60 Central Parade, New Addington

Addiscombe

  • Addiscombe Express Ltd, 271 Lower Addiscombe Rd
  • Nisa Local, 193 Lower Addiscombe Road
  • Harrisons Newsagent, 298 Lower Addiscombe Rd

Comments and feedback

Our existing ‘pay and display’ machines rely upon 3G connectivity which is currently being shut down by network providers. This means the machines are reaching the end of their operation. This trial will enable the council to understand the impact of moving to cashless payment and address issues that users experience during the trials.

We welcome any comments on this trial, via an online survey, available at:

The survey will close on Monday 22 January 2024.
