History
Jewels Wood is an area of woodland just outside the Borough and was formerly part of the Fairchilds Estate which included much of the New Addington area. The wood was purchased by the Corporation in 1944 under Section 157 of the Croydon Corporation Act 1924 for the benefit and improvement of the Borough. The woodland is crossed by a bridle road and is patrolled by the Parks Departments rangers.
